Developing Chinese Language Teachers: Scholarship Assistance
Project Summary
This program requests scholarship support that will put growing numbers of teachers of Chinese in America's primary, elementary and high school classrooms - where suddenly they are in great demand. With the assistance of the College Board and China's Office of Chinese Language Council International, we may encourage more students to earn master's degrees and prepare for New York State certification through an outstanding and well established Steinhardt program: Teachers of Chinese as a Foreign Language. Candidates for the program are selected for their academic excellence, their readiness to dedicate their professional lives to teaching, and their capacity to advance Chinese fluency in a reconfigured world.
