Music Theatre Students

Undergraduate Students:

The undergraduate Vocal Performance program in Music Theatre is made up of outstanding students who are committed to intensive performance training within the stimulating academic environment of an internationally acclaimed liberal arts/research university. Our Music Theatre majors tend to have a strong grounding in musicianship skills and most play an instrument. They are committed to classically based voice training and are happy to take advantage of the opportunity to cross traditional lines and participate in opera workshops as well as fully-staged opera productions. As a result of this commitment to serious vocal study combined with an in-depth acting curriculum our students are well prepared to enter the world of professional music theatre performance.

Graduate Students:

The graduate Vocal Performance program in Music Theatre is made up of outstanding students who are committed to intensive performance training within the stimulating academic environment of an internationally acclaimed liberal arts/research university. Some of our Music Theatre majors come to our program from an undergraduate degree in vocal performance, but others take this opportunity to explore music theatre and voice training as a follow-up to an undergraduate degree in another field. Our Music Theatre graduate students are committed to a foundation in classically based voice training and often take advantage of the opportunity to cross traditional lines and participate in opera workshops as well as fully staged opera productions. As a result of this commitment to serious vocal study combined with an in-depth acting curriculum our Music Theatre graduate students are well prepared to enter the world of professional performance.
