String Studies Description

Myriad performance opportunities are available to our students both within and beyond the NYU community. While we offer the highest level of solo repertoire study and performance opportunities, we also emphasize intensive training in chamber and orchestral repertoire. Student ensembles are formed at the start of each semester, taught by major performance faculty and often choose to remain together throughout their years at NYU and after graduation. Extraordinary performances with the NYU Symphony and Repertory Orchestras as well as orchestras that perform for our musical theater, opera and dance productions provide additional experiences for careers in every aspect of string performance. 

The atmosphere in the string department is collegial and supportive. Our renowned faculty provides individualized attention to each student, which enables our students to grow as artists. We care deeply about each one of our students while they are studying with us and after they graduate. We hope that you will become a member of the NYU Steinhardt family.
