Study Hard
Make sure this is what you want to do before coming to NYU for music business. Have a true love for music, not just a desire to ride in limousines and meet rock stars.
It may be cliché but you do get what you put in. Go to seminars, student clubs, etc. The best stuff to learn is through experience and that comes from outside the classroom.
New York City is the place where everything in the music industry happens FIRST. It is the most important place to be for anyone aspiring to be in the industry.
Where else but the dynamic and vibrant environment of NYC should you expect to find one of the nations most highly regarded music business programs? NYU's music business major offers unparalleled experience and opportunity.

In two weeks of classes I've already been introduced to the vast array of opportunities available and the exceptional program that NYU and the city has to offer.
RUN... Just kidding... but be prepared for a course load that will prepare you for a career in an industry that requires almost as much as the music business program.
Don't come to NYU just to do something 'till your band makes it big. Be ambitious and ready to jump into the industry that you will be surrounded by. Understand that this is a competitive industry and you need to be proficient in technical music, current events and business culture. You'll also be surrounded by very creative people!
