Brass Studies Undergraduate

The B.M. program in music performance provides intensive professional training within a renowned liberal arts university. The degree consists of a total of 130 credits: 40 credits in liberal arts and 90 in music. Students receive a broad foundation in core music classes including four semesters each in music history, music theory, aural comprehension, and keyboard harmony and improvisation. Performance students have dozens of ensemble opportunities including chamber groups (brass and mixed groups). In addition, students have the opportunity to play in orchestras for fully staged opera and music theatre productions directed by leading New York City conductors. Students also have weekly private study with renowned faculty brass faculty.

Students are required to present recitals in their Junior and Senior years. Students are also urged to widen their horizons by taking elective classes in other areas of music such as Music Business (concert management, record business, etc.), Music Technology, Jazz Studies, or Music Education.
