The New York University Children's Chorus is an outreach of the university to the children and the parents of the community. The program is free of charge, and is open to any young singer between the ages of six and twelve. There are no auditions or previous singing experience needed but we do require that the child wants to sing and that the family makes a commitment to the rehearsals.
In the chorus , the singer will learn proper vocal technique , musicianship , and quality repertoire. They will also have the opportunity to sing and perform with the other 75 members of the group. The chorus rehearses each Tuesday from 3:45 to 4:45 pm and meets in the Frederick Loewe Theatre in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at 35 West 4th Street. Rehearsals usually begin on the second Tuesday in September. New singers will be accepted at that time.
