Diversity at Steinhardt

Open Faculty Positions | Diversity at Steinhardt

At The Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development we believe that education is an instrument for positive change in our world and a means through which the quality of life for all people can be enhanced. Our mission is to prepare leaders whose work is at the intersection of learning, development, creativitiy and well-being.

We are a diverse community of dedicated faculty. Our goal is to create and maintain a diverse faculty whose multiple and rich perspectives will provide the foundation for achieving our mission. The Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development is fully committed to the implementation of the NYU Affirmative Action Policy, and to creating a campus climate that enhances and develops scholarship and practices for work with diverse individuals and groups.

The recruitment of a diverse faculty begins with policies and practices that support proactive searches that are comprehensive in outreach. In addition to recruitment practices, employment decisions at Steinhardt are based on individual merit and capabilities without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation/identity, or any other status protected by law. These apply to all terms and conditions of employment including hiring, assignment of duties, promotion and tenure, working conditions, and compensation.

Creating an inclusive and respectful workplace also requires an environment that is free of harassment because of race, ethnicity, religion, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation/identity, or any other status protected by law. Workplace or work-related harassment of any staff member based on any of these by any member of the community will not be tolerated. My commitment, and that of the Steinhardt community, is to create a fully inclusive work environment that supports each member of our community.

I invite you to review the position descriptions and hope that you will consider joining the Steinhardt faculty.

Sincerely

Mary Brabeck
Dean
