Date Posted: November 11, 2005
Francisco Núñez, an adjunct faculty member at the Steinhart School of Education’s Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions, was named one of the “100 Most Influential Hispanics” by Hispanic Business magazine in its October issue.
Núñez is director of the NYU Women's Choir and the select choir, University Singers, both based in Steinhardt. He is also artistic director of the Young People’s Chorus of New York. The chorus, which includes 250 singers—aged eight to 26—of all cultures, performs as the WNYC Young People’s Radio Chorus, the city’s first and only resident radio choir. Núñez formed the multicultural chorus in 1988 at the Children’s Aid Society of New York City, serving as director of music for nine years.
